Back in 2001, we created something we call the “Shine Charter” — a written statement of the commitments we make (and keep) for and with our clients, day in and day out, 365 a year. Here is a snapshot of those promises — in the spirit of understanding whether Shine is right for you.
We will always be truthful and honest. This means there can be no sacred cows. This means we will question everything — and overlook nothing. It means we will ask the hard questions. And, in turn, we ask that our clients are open, honest and truthful. We ask that they tell us the truth — when we succeed, and when we don't. We work best together as a team, not apart as individual constituencies with separate agendas.
We will always be passionate about our clients' business. And the day we're not, we'll respectfully resign their account. We are not in the marketing business, the branding business or the advertising business. We are in the business of generating and executing ideas that build brands and generate sales. As such, we ask that our clients listen with an open mind. That they bring us their ideas, their passion, their excitement, their naked truths. We ask that they allow us to engage them, to refer to them and us together as “we.”
Profitability for all. We're in business, just like our clients. To serve the community, to hopefully better humankind, and yes, to make a buck or two. By way of making the implicit explicit, we need to be profitable in order to employ talented people and deliver best-in-class thinking for our clients. We don't expect to be billionaires, but we do expect to earn an honest day's wages for an honest day's work. We don't double bill hours, we don't triple-net bill, we don't hide or obfuscate anything. At the end of the day, we hope to make a 10% profit margin. We ask that our clients don't beat us up time and again over budget. We ask that they pay their bills on time. We're happy to invest in their business — provided they invest in ours.
